Measured Building Surveys

Some people still believe that accurate floor plans and elevations of an existing building can be produced quickly and easily using a tape measure and a skecth pad. It is not until they try to transfer the skecthes to paper (or CAD) that they discover the measurements taken on site don't seem to work on paper. Surveyors are well aware of the difficulties and potential problems that can arise from not only measuring the size of a single room but also ensuring each room ties in with neighbouring rooms and other floors both above and below. The relationship between the rooms and the external walls, windows and doors also becomes important when elevations and sections are added to the project.

There are several dedicated software packages on the market which enable us to complete the drawings in real time on site. This enables us to identify any walls which are out of square or errors in measurement before we return to the office thereby negating the need to return to site for a 'field check' at a later date. At GM Surveys we believe in a methodical approach to evey Measured Building Survey and our method of measurement can be seen in our standard specifictations. The specification can vary according to the purpose of the final drawing therefore a meeting or discussion between the Client and Surveyor is important to establish the degree of accuracy and level of detail required.

We have produced a series of plans showingthe different levels of detail typically required for a particular project which can be found by clicking on the links below. Simply choose the type of plan you need for your project then give us a call and we'll provided a fee proposal based on the size of the building and the level of detail. If you are still not sure exactly what you need just let us know the purpose of the survey and we can customise our specification to suit your needs.
