 Volume Analysis

The price of removing excess soil from a site is rising every year and the importance of allowing for such removal is now an essential part of cost planning.  Pacing around the edge of a stockpile and estimating the height is definitely not the most accurate method of calculating its volume and the financial cost of making a mistake could be substantial.  In comparison the cost of a volumetric survey should be relatively small and the results will be far more accurate.

Using GPS and a Robotic Total Station it is usually a simple matter for one person to survey a stockpile, download the data to our office software and create a digital ground model (DGM) from which the volume can be calculated.

Similarly we can perform mass excavation computations which can also help to keep costs down by calculating the amount of cut and fill required to meet the design levels of  a development.  Once the DGM has been created we can easily produce sections and profiles through the site and plans showing the areas of cut and fill.
